Education & Licensure: Ph.D. School Psychology from Illinois State University; M.S. Psychology from Illinois State University; B.A. Psychology from The University of Michigan; Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and PSYPACT Certified. Dr. Herber also supports the Association of Chicagoland Externship and Practicum Training (ACEPT) as the Student Involvement Chair.
Client Base: Dr. Herber specializes in working with children and adolescents, and their families. She has a passion for working with individuals and families with developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other social, emotional, and behavioral needs. Dr. Herber has experience working in therapeutic day schools, public education, non-profit organizations, and private clinics. Given Dr. Herber’s background in education, she also enjoys supporting family-school partnerships and consulting on ways to provide the best possible support for students.
Therapeutic Approach: Dr. Herber provides a person-centered approach to care, working to build a therapeutic alliance marked by trust, respect, and empathy. She evaluates concerns through a systematic lens (e.g., family, school, community, society), working to achieve a comprehensive understanding of a person as a whole. Dr. Herber also takes a strengths-based approach to therapy and assessment, working to identify areas of strength despite areas of difficulty.
