About Us

IMGWelcome to Counseling Connections.  Founded in 1982, Counseling Connections is one of the largest group practices serving Lake and Northern Cook Counties.  We specialize in working with children, adolescents and families, and have a long history of working with adults and relationship issues.  Our multidisciplinary group consists of Child/Adolescent Psychiatrists, Adult Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers and Professional Counselors under one roof.  Our group offers an array of treatment methods, affording us the opportunity to help you choose a therapist or doctor to meet the specific needs of you and your family.  The collaboration between providers is ongoing to ensure best practices and services for your health.

Referrals often find their way to our office due to our reputation with pediatricians, medical providers, attorneys, schools, and other mental health providers/agencies throughout Lake and Northern Cook counties.  Attorneys frequently refer to our staff for families in transition because of parental divorce.  Some of our staff work closely with the court system to assist families in transition.  For over two decades Counseling Connections has been conducting evaluations for the court system including: custody evaluations, domestic violence evaluations, anger management evaluations and evaluations in criminal matters.  Some of our staff are trained divorce mediatiors and can assist families in transition move forward.

About Our Schools

In 1998 we opened Connections Day School, our first private therapeutic day school for children who struggle to manage their emotional experience or may display some behavioral difficulties.  Students are referred to our schools by their home district when it is determined that the public school system can no longer meet their needs.  Connections Day School now serves between 80-90 students from 3rd grade through age 22 years.  In the fall of 2001, we founded our second location, South Campus, in Palatine, Ilinois.  South Campus serves 90 students, grades 1 - 12, with emotional and behavioral difficulties impacting their academic and social/emotional functioning.

New Connections Academy opened in Palatine in November 2006.  This school serves children and adolescents, grades 1-12+, with Autism Spectrum Disorder who are highly functioning enough for academic work.  The school was formed with the specific mission to meet the unique needs of these children in need of an alternate setting.
