About Us

Welcome to Counseling Connections.  We are one of the largest group practices serving Lake and Northern Cook Counties.  Our group consists of Child/Adolescent Psychiatrists, Adult Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers and Professional Counselors.  Because we have all of these disciplines within our group, we are better able to meet your needs.  This allows us to treat you and your family using multiple methods if needed without you needing to go to other offices.  All of your treatment team is under one roof.  And better yet, our staff can easily consult with each other so you and your family can receive the best possible care.  Furthermore, because our group is large, we are able to help you choose a therapist or doctor who has expertise in assisting you and your family with the type of difficulty present.

But here is some information about us.  Counseling Connections began in 1982.  We have always specialized in children, adolescents and families.  Because of that, we have worked closely with many schools throughout Lake and Northern Cook counties.  Many of our clients come to us referred by school personnel.  We also receive many referrals to our clinical staff from pediatricians in the area.

In addition to working with children and adolescents, we have a long history of working with adults and relationship issues.  Many clients come to us for individual or marital issues.  Attorneys’ frequently refer to our staff for families in transition because of divorce.

Some of our staff work closely with the court system to assist families in transition.  We have been conducting evaluations for the courts for over two decades.  The evaluations include custody evaluations, domestic violence evaluations, anger management evaluations and evaluations in criminal matters.  Some of our staff also are trained divorce mediatiors and can assist families in transition move forward.

About Our Schools
In 1998 we opened our first school, Connections Day School.  This is a private therapeutic day school for children with emotional and behavioral issues.  Students are referred to our schools by their home district when it is determined that the public system can no longer meet their needs.  Connections Day School now serves between 80-90 students from 3rd grade through high school.  In the fall of 2001 we opened South Campus.  Located in Palatine, South Campus serves 90 students also with emotional and behavioral issues.  South Campus serves first grade through high school.

In November 2006 New Connections Academy opened in Palatine.  This school serves children and adolescents on the Pervasive Developmental Disorder Spectrum.  Specifically, we serve high functioning autistic children and children with Asperger’s Disorder from 1st grade through high school.    The school was formed to meet the unique needs of Aspergers children and children with high functioning Autism who were in need of an alternate setting.  We are very excited about this new program for an underserved population.
